Dr. Mambo’s Combo, which holds down the longest-running residency in the state, has a big week, with a show at The Hook and Ladder Theater Friday, paying tribute to Sly & the Family Stone and Rufus & Chaka Khan.
The Hook also has a big week, with Will Effertz’ Space Between Jam Tuesday and and the Built to Last Festival, paying tribute to the Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia. The Built to Last All Stars include the likes of The Big Wu’s Tery V, Mark Joseph and Eddie “Hondo” Juntenen of White Iron Band.
Duluth’s Saltydog also kicks off their tour out west just over the border from Moorhead at The Aquarium in Fargo Thursday, with The Forefeathers opening.
Jazz is Dead’s Adrian Younge has The Big Show at Indeed Brewing Saturday.

LSD and the Search for God with Total Wife play 7th Street Entry for a 7:30 p.m. all ages show.
L.A.’s Monday Nights, the weekly residency by drummer L.A. Buckner, at Icehouse goes from 8 to 11 p.m.
Up in Duluth, Teague Alexy plays at Sir Ben’s from 5 to 8 p.m.
And young funksters Jumpsuit wrap up their Bent Paddle residency, with music from 7 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday, July 28
TWINE’s Will Effertz hosts the non-profit Space Between open jam at The Hook every fourth Tuesday at The Hook and Ladder from 7 to 10 p.m.
“A drum set, guitar amps (guitar), bass amp (bass) and other various instruments are provided but feel free to bring in your personal instruments.
SPACE BETWEEN is a peer-to-peer support program for music industry professionals and all who make the music possible. Strengthening our community through workshops, support groups, advocacy, outreach, live performance, and mental health awareness.”
There’s Graydon Peterson’s Old Town Tuesday Night Jam at Whitey’s in Northeast Minneapolis from 10 p.m. to about 1 a.m.
International Reggae All Stars play their weekly Bunkers residency at 9:30 p.m.
In Duluth, Bruce Woodman has his weekly jam at Carmody from 8 to 11 p.m., and ussually must later.

TWINE’s weekly Bunkers residency starts at 9:30 p.m.
Space Monkey Mafia and Left on Tenth play Turf Club at 8 p.m.
Fish on Hooks play Silverwood Parkin Saint Anthony from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Berlin’s Cherry Pit Open Jam starts at 10 p.m. and goes to about 12:30 a.m.
Saltydog heads out on the road, kicking off their Western tour at The Aquarium in Fargo — just over the border from Moorhead, Thursday.

In Eagan, Nicholas David continues his Ansari’s residencywith Jay Corkran. Music is 7 to 9 p.m.

Buit to Last Festival: Jerry Day 2026 is at The Hook’s Under the Canopy, space.
