There’s some pretty cool shows coming through town this week, in addition to the local bands that have gigs.
We have Japanese heavy psych band Acid Mothers Temple, veteran jam band moe., New York’s Geese (not to be confused with Goose), and Delicate Steve.
Local shows of note include Only Every Monday, Bruce Woodman, The Old Town Tuesday Night Jam, International Reggae All Stars, TWINE, Buffalo Galaxy, Dylan Salfer, Dr. Mambo’s Combo and Shotgun Ragtime Band.
Read on below for the details.
Monday, Oct. 13
Only Every Monday, the weekly show put on by Geoffrey Fischbein, continues its long-run, currently on the Cabooze patio, starting at 6 p.m.
This week, Fischbein kicks off the performances at 6 p.m., followed by Strawberry, Minneapolis psych-kraut band Lent (8 p.m.), drummer Izzy Cruz (9 p.m.) and a performer to be determined.

I recently became privy to one of the coolest musical residencies in town — The Old Town Tuesday Night Jam put on by Graydon Peterson.
It’s held every Tuesday at Whitey’s Old Town Saloon in Northeast Minneapolis from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m.
It’s an open, jazz forward jam that is open to exploring whatever genres players want to take it, and I was truly blown away by it on a recent night — much thanks to drummer Reed Grimm for taking me.
Also every Tuesday are the International Reggae All Stars, which play Bunkers from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
For my Duluth friends, I’m going to mention that Bruce Woodman continues his residency at Carmody’s Irish Pub from 8 to 11 p.m. in downtown Duluth.
Wednesday, Oct. 15
Acid Mothers Temple, the Japanese heavy psych band, has been around for 30 years now. They’ve been visiting Minnesota on an annual basis for more than a decade now. They are playing the Turf Club, with the doors opening at 7, and music starting at 8 p.m.
They do rip, if you are into bands like King Gizzard or Frankie and the Witch Fingers. I’d also recommend getting to the show early enough to catch The Macks from Portland.

I’m hoping to catch both sets before cruising over to Bunkers for TWINE’s weekly residency set, which starts at 9:30 p.m. and wraps up around 1 a.m.
Will Effertz of TWINE at Bunkers last Wednesday. Effertz is almost always busy on Wednesdays and Thursdays in Minneapolis. On Thursday, he rotates a lineup into Gluek’s for the WE Collective.

Dylan Salfer, the last performer to hold down Wednesdays at Bunkers, has a show at the Dakota, with doors at 5:30 p.m. and the music starting at 7 p.m.
Will Effertz has his weekly WE Collective at Gluek’s in downtown Minneapolis at 9:30 p.m.
Back up in Duluth, Minneapolis jamgrass band Buffalo Galaxy has a free show at Bent Paddle Brewing from 6 to 8 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 18
A lot of folks got acquainted with Geese, the indie rock band from New York, last year when they opened for the first half of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s U.S. tour.
I love the range of Cameron Winter. His singing can hit you in the heart and touch a nerve.
Geese playing Amsterdan Bar on Saturday, with Racing Mount Pleasant opening. The 8 p.m. show is sold out.
And easier ticket will be Delicate Steve at Icehouse on Minneapolis’ Eat Street. His show starts at 8 p.m.
I saw Delicate Steve perform at the Lodge Room in Los Angeles this April and I enjoyed the show very much.

His instrumental band performed as a three-piece, with a drummer, and a keyboardist and Steve on guitars. I love his phrasing and his band’s bluesy sound.
Delicate Steve @ Icehouse, Minneapolis. Doors 7 p.m., show 8 p.m., 21+; Tickets + more information here.
Formed in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1989, moe. is in the midst of a victory lap celebrating its 35th anniversary this year. The band plays The Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul Sunday.

Last but not least, moe. is in the midst of a year-long tour celebrating 35 years of existence.
The band will perform at The Fitzgerald Theater in Saint Paul and there are still tickets readily available, with music starting at 7 p.m.
I always do mention Shotgun Ragtime Band, which is soon approaching 750 Sundays at the Driftwood in South Minneapolis. Music kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
And, of course, Dr. Mambo’s Combo, which is one of the longest standing music residencies in America. The Combo has been playing every Sunday at Bunkers since 1987. The music starts at 9:30 p.m. and goes until 1 a.m.
