Duluth jam-funk outfit Saltydog makes it down to Minneapolis tonight for a free gig at the Lake Harriet Bandshell starting at 7:30 p.m.
That leads Jam in the Stream’s weekly roundup of psychedelic performances around the state of Minnesota.
You might know how much I love this band with great song writing, some depth in their ever-growing catalog of originals and solid jam instincts. I’ll be there tonight!
Related project Jumpsuit also continues their month-long residency on Mondays at Bent Paddle Brewing in Duluth tonight. Saltydog bassist Calvin “Calzone” Lund is in both bands but will be down in Minneapolis. Jumpsuit plays their free show at 6 p.m.
Tuesday, July 15
The International Reggae All Stars continue their long-standing Tuesday-night residency at Bunkers in North Loop, with a 9:30 p.m. start.
Wednesday, July 16
Ice Horse, featuring Charlie Parr collaborator Mikkel Beckmen and Jeff Ray “reimagine Minnesota winter as desert, using resonator guitars & hand percussion to create improvisations, original compositions and versions through a collision of tunings, rhythms & influences from Debashsish Battycharya, Tuareg desert trance blues & Hill Country Mississippi,” according to the event description.
They play at Icehouse’s Starlight Room at 6 p.m. Tickets are $12.
Up in Duluth, Superior Siren with Jumpsuit perform at the Glensheen Concerts at the Pier series starting at 5 p.m.
Boss Mama’s Wednesday night residency at The Rugged Spruce Golf Course features all-women lineups this month. The shows are free and start at 6:30 p.m. That’s up North, halfway between Cloquet and Moose Lake.
TWINE continues their Wednesday night residency at Bunkers. Last week, Dylan Salfer, Jellybean Johnson and Christone “Kingfish” Ingram jumped on stage. Kingfish and Samantha Fish had sold out The Pantages Theatre that night, and Fish also made it over to Bunkers, though she did not take the stage.
TWINE starts at 9:30 p.m. and the cover is $10. You never know what might happen at Bunkers.

TWINE returns to Grand Marais for a pair of shows at Up Yonder Friday and Saturday, with the music from 8 to 11 p.m. both nights.
Steely Dane plays a pair of shows Friday and Saturday at Parkway Theater. The all ages shows start at 8 p.m. Tickets range from $26 to 46 before fees.
Up near the shores of Gitche Gumee, Charlie Parr plays the City Center Stage in Silver Bay starting at 7:30 p.m. It’s free but reserve ticket here.
Saturday, July 19
Nicholas David has a gig at Hell’s Kitchen in downtown Minneapolis from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. It’s free.
Jumpsuit hits the aforementioned Rugged Spruce Golf Club in Mahtowa. The music starts at 7 p.m.
Sunday, July 20
Salfer plays Milk & Honey Ciders in St. Joseph. The music starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are $15.
Down in Minneapolis, Railroad Earth and Yonder Mountain String Band play Utepils Brewing, with the show starting at 5:30 p.m.; GA tickets are $49.
Shotgun Ragtime Band continues its long-time run at the Driftwood in South Minneapolis Sunday, with music starting at 6:30 p.m.
