It’s a busy week of live music in Minnesota, with some major talent coming through town in the case of Kinga Glyk and Mikaela Davis, and Australia’s Amyl and The Sniffers.
There’s a lot of local music happening this week as well, including the Rock the Bayfront Festival in Duluth, which has the likes of Soul Asylum and Charlie Parr performing.

Monday, June 15
Polish jazz bassist Kinga Glyk will deliver the funk tonight at the Dakota and probably make some want to challenge the venue’s seating policy (standing is discouraged and often restricted). The show starts at 7 p.m.
Duluth’s Teague Alexy continues Sir Ben’s residency at 5 p.m. The music goes to 8 p.m.
Back in Minneapolis Only Every Monday starts with Izzy Cruz at 6 p.m. on the Cabooze patio, followed by Joe Dunn at 7 p.m., Paper Chain at 8 p.m., and host Geoffrey Fischbein at 9 p.m.
L.A.’s Monday Nights, the new residency from drummer L.A. Buckner resumes after at week off at Icehouse. The music starts at 8 p.m. and goes to about 11 p.m.

Tuesday, June 16
Jam-related harpist Mikaela Davis, who has collaborated with Circles Around the Sun, plays 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis Tuesday night, with a 8 p.m. show. Ontario alt country singer Juliano Riolino opens.
The International Reggae All Stars resume their long-time Bunkers residency at 9:30 p.m.
Graydon Peterson’s jazz forward open jam, known as the Old Town Tuesday Night Jam at Whitey’s in Northeast Minneapolis goes from 10 p.m. to about 1 a.m.
Up in Duluth, Bruce Woodman leads his open jam at Carmody Irish Pub from 8 to 11 p.m., and usually much later.
TWINE had six different musicians up on stage at various points last week.

Wednesday, Jun 17
TWINE’s Wednesday night Bunkers residency, affectionately known as TWINEsday, is going strong about 18 months in. The jams keep getting better, darker and more powerful each week.
The Cherry Pit Open Jam at Berlin in North Loop is free and kicks off at about 10:15 p.m. and runs to 12:30 a.m.
Thursday, June 18
Colorado funk jam band The Motet returns to Minneapolis with Chicago’s Hot Like Mars opening up at Fine Line in Minneapolis. The music starts at 8 p.m.
WE Collective, Will Effertz’ other weekly residency at Gluek’s, will be having Saltydog guitarist Sam Deters and bassist Calvin Lund join in, along with Lund’s Jumpsuit bandmate Ian Hoppe. The music starts at 9:30 p.m.
Jaybee and The Routine have their weekly Bunkers residency at 9:30 p.m.
Sam Deters of Saltydog along with Calvin Lund will join WE Collective at Gluek’s Thursday.

Friday, June 19
New Orleans funk band Hot 8 Brass Band plays Cedar Cultural Center for an all ages show that starts at 8 p.m.
Up in Duluth, the first day of Rock the Bayfront features Hippo Campus and G.B. Leighton, with music starting at 1:30 p.m.
Also in Duluth, The Last Revel plays a ticketed show at Bent Paddle with Between Howls in support. That show starts at 7 p.m.
Down in Minneapolis, Brotherhood of Birds plays 331 Club in Northeast Minneapolis at 10 p.m.
In Saint Paul, the White Squirrel Bar hosts Yazzfest with Hunny Bear, EFMI and Astronomy Town at 9 p.m.
Monique B & The Experience plays Bunkers at 9:30 p.m. Monique is one of the vocalists in Dr. Mambo’s Combo.
Saturday, June 20
Amyl and The Sniffers with Party Dozen hit Surly Festival Field for a 7 p.m. show that is 18 and over.
Rock the Bayfront Festival continues with Soul Asylum, The Music of Prince featuring members of New Power Generation, Emily Haavik and The 35s, Mid Dream, Charlie Parr, The Slamming Doors, Not Fade Away: Grateful Dead Tribute and Boxcar. Here is the schedule: Doors 7 a.m.; Boxcar 9 to 10:30 a.m., Not Fade Away 11 to 12:30 p.m., The Slamming Doors 1 to 2:30 p.m., Charlie Parr 3 to 4:30 p.m., Mid Dream 5 to 6 p.m., Emily Haavik 6:30 to 8 p.m., The Music of Prince 8:30 to 10 p.m., and Soul Asylum 10:30 to 11:45 p.m. The event is free.
Back in Minneapolis, Pryes holds its annual Block Party wtih Gear Daddies and Maygen & The Birdwatcher, Jillian Rae, JoJo Green and Mikel Wright & The Wrongs. Doors are at 3 p.m.
Sunday, June 21
Shotgun Ragtime Band is approaching 800 consecutive Sunday shows at the Driftwood in South Minneapolis.
The music starts at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Mambo’s Combo is in the 39th year of its Bunkers residency. The music starts at 9:30 p.m.
