I’ve been spending the early part of the week up in Duluth as of late, and I have to say, it’s impressive how much local music is available on a weekly basis, on a Monday or Tuesday night.
Jumpsuit, a Duluth-area funk band, plays the fourth of five Mondays in March on Bent Paddle’s Cosmic Lounge stage tonight.

It’s a busy week of live music, with Bob Dylan returning to his birth state for a show at Mayo Civic Center in Rochester Tuesday, and the London-based psychedelic instrumental quartet Yuuf hitting 7th Street Entry Thursday, with The Swongos opening.
I always try to mention TWINE’s Wednesday Bunkers residency because the band reliably delivers a dose of deep improvisation every week until 1 a.m.
And Saltydog, Duluth’s rising jamband, concludes its month-long residency at The Hook and Ladder Theater Thursday, with a couple of friends from the band Afflatus opening up.

Monday, March 23
Jumpsuit’s Monday night residency at Bent Paddle continues with music from 6 to 9 p.m.
Teague Alexy has his weekly Sir Benedict’s set from 6 to 9 p.m.
Tuesday, March 24
Down in Rochester, Bob Dylan plays Mayo Civic Center with an 8 p.m. start.
Up in Duluth, Bruce Woodman’s jam at Carmody starts at 8 p.m. and tends to continue to close to bar close.
In Minneapolis, International Reggae All Stars play their Bunkers residency starting at 9:30 p.m.
Graydon Peterson’s Old Town Tuesday Night Jam at Whitey’s Old Town Saloon runs from 10 p.m. until about 1 a.m.

Wednesday, March 25
TWINE’s at Bunkers residency is at 9:30 p.m. This high-powered jam band tends to take jams deep in each of three set that wrap up at around 1 a.m.
JC Sanford’s EQ plays Icehouse on Eat Street starting at 8 p.m.
Up in Duluth, Elsa Krantz and Boss Mama at Sir Ben’s at 5 p.m.
Flip Arkulary’s Space Wizard Wednesday at Jade Fountain closes out its residency at the Duluth cocktail bar with Tim Kaiser, Ari Buns Unhinged Drag Show, and projection art by Daniel Benoit. Jade Fountain also announced that April 4 would be its last day of service, with the driving force behind the spot that has put on a lot of local Duluth music taking their talents over to Superior, Wis.
Saltydog’s Mahon Brothers play SandRocks in Sandstone from 6 to 8 p.m.

Yuuf and The Swongos play 7th Street Entry with music starting at 8 p.m.
Leslie Vincent’s Intimate Icehouse Residency starts at 8 p.m.
WE Collective’s weekly show at Gluek’s in downtown Minneapolis starts at about 9:30 p.m. and runs until about 1 a.m.
Friday, March 27
Jacuzzi Puma plays an interesting tribute mashup called Frizzle Fried: A Tribute to Primus & Prince at The Hook and Ladder Theater in South Minneapolis. The 21-and-over show starts at 8 p.m.
The first night of Pert Near Sandstone’s Winter String Band Gathering at Turf Club features The Fretliners and The May North. The music starts at 7:30 p.m.
Saltydog heads a little farther south to play Anderson Center in Red Wing, with music starting at 7 p.m. It’s an all ages show.
Space Between is holding a 4 Year Anniversary Fundraiser Celebration featuring WE Collective, Serious Buddah, Efmi and Brady Perl with special guest JILL at Zen Arcade with the show starting at 7:30 p.m.
Zeppo, a Led Zeppelin tribute, plays Icehouse at 8 p.m.
Saturday, March 28
The second night of Pert Near Sandstone’s Winter String Band Gathering includes Armchair Boogie and Triple Fiddle. The music starts at 7:30 p.m. at Turf Club in St. Paul.
Bobby J’s West Bank Social Club plays Animales BBQ in Minneapolis. The free music starts at 3 p.m.
Sunday, March 29
Obi Original with The Black Atlantics wraps up its Icehouse residency, with music at 9 p.m.
Shotgun Ragtime Band plays consecutive Sunday No. 771 at the Driftwood in South Minneapolis. Phine and Friends kick off the music at 6:30 p.m.
Dr. Mambo’s Combo has been carrying on their legendary Bunkers residency since 1987. Like most shows at this venue, the music starts at 9:30 p.m. and goes until 1 a.m.
