Live in MN: Halloween edition, Cosmic Country, New Orleans Suspects incoming

October 30, 2025 in live events, blog

I’m a skosh late getting my weekly roundup this week.

I’ll blame it on having too much fun with friends Sunday night into Monday morning in Milwaukee for Widespread Panic.

Sorry not sorry.

So, this is an abbreviated Halloween edition

Mentioned below are performances from Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country, TWINE, New Orleans Suspects, Kung Fu Hippies, Danny Frank and the Smoky Gold, Barefoot Bluegrass, Ganja White Night, Saltydog, People Brothers Band, Mikel Wright and the Wrongs, Shotgun Ragtime Band and Dr. Mambo’s Combo.

Thusday, Oct. 30

The fun kicks off tonight at First Avenue, where Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country will bring the jams.

Donato’s high-powered band keeps getting better and better in the improvisation department every time I see him. This band seems able to find those locomotive jam gears at will. It’s something special.

Keep on the lookout for some images from this show here at Jam in the Stream, as I’ve been granted photo credentials for the gig — much thanks to Cosmic Country photographer Ant Braaten for the assist.

If you aren’t ready for bed following Donato, walk the few downtown blocks to Gluek’s Bar, where TWINE will be coming in hot off last night’s ridiculous weekly show at Bunkers in North Loop.

Friday, Oct. 31

The New Orleans Suspects will be performing Krewe of DADs Masquerade Ball XL at The Hook and Ladder Theater. Will Effertz and Jon Miller of TWINE kicking the show off at 9 p.m. with an acoustic set, and the Kung Fu Hippies also play in support.

For EDM fans, Ganja White Night’s annual Wobbleween tradition takes of Armory at 7 p.m.

Up in Duluth, Saltydog and People Brothers Band play the second of four shows together, this time at Pizza Luce. This time, Saltydog plays last — People Brothers Band had that honor last week at The Hook and Ladder and at upcoming shows Appleton (Dec. 6) and Viroqua (Nov. 15), Wis.

Saturday, Nov. 1

Mikel Wright and the Wrongs return to Bunkers with a 9:30 p.m. start. Cover is $15.

The second and final night of Ganja White Night’s Wobbleween concludes at Armory, with the music starting at 7 p.m.

Up in Duluth, fiddler Erin Aldridge will be celebrating her 50th birthday at Zeitgeist — the first of two nights. She’ll be performing with her band Danny Frank & the Smoky Gold and Barefoot Bluegrass.

There’s an after-party across the street at Carmody’s Irish Pub, where Danny Frank and friends, including members of Saltydog, will keep the jams going late.

Sunday, Nov. 2

Erin Aldridge’s 50th Birthday bash moves to The Cabooze in Minneapolis. The doors are at 6 p.m., and music starts at 7 p.m.

Shotgun Ragtime Band will be playing Sunday No. 750, with the music, as always, kicking off at 6:30 p.m. Look out for a story about this long-time Grateful Dead communal tribute band.

Last but not least, Dr. Mambo’s Combo has its weekly residency show at Bunkers, with music kicking off at 9:30 p.m.
