MN WEEKLY ROUNDUP: There’s big talent performing in Minnesota this week thanks to the Minnesota Yacht Club Festival on Harriet Island, bringing the likes of Dope Lemon, Geese, Mt. Joy and Die Spitz, to name the acts that I wouldn’t miss, if I were going.
I’m more excited about my Wednesday, which will start with Pearl & The Oysters at Turf Club in Saint Paul before I head over to Bunkers for TWINE.
I’ll mention a few more residencies here, Monday’s Jumpsuit at Bent Paddle in Duluth and L.A.’s Monday Nights at Icehouse in Minneapolis, and Nicolas David with Dylan Nau at Ansari’s in Eagan on Thursday.
Saltydog is on the bill at the Minnesota Original Music Fest in Saint Peter next Sunday. The fest is headlined by Martin Zellar.
Saturday is a very busy day around the state, including Bayfront Reggae & World Festival in Duluth, Buffalo Galaxy at No Name Bar in Winona and Cas Haley with Reed Grimm and Jon Wayne at 7th Street Entry, to name just a few of the things going on Saturday.
Other acts: Teague Alexy at Sir Benedict’s, International Reggae All Stars at Bunkers, Old Town Tuesday Night Jam at Whitey’s Old Town Saloon, Bruce Woodman’s Jam at Carmody, Cherry Pit Open Jam, WE Collective, Jaybee and the Routine, Uff-da, Buffalo Galaxy, Chase & Ovation, Cigarette Picnic, Entheos Enclave, Sonja and Charity Reunion with Big Country Lee, Jacob Downs and The Mudpuppies, Shotgun Ragtime Band and Dr. Mambo’s Combo.

Monday, July 13
Jumpsuit continues their month-long Hi-Key Mondays residency, playing Monday nights at Bent Paddle in Duluth. Music 7 to 9 p.m.
Teague Alexy at Sir Ben’s in Duluth from 5 to 8 p.m.
Tuesday, July 14
International Reggae All Stars take the Bunkers’ stage at 9:30 p.m.
Old Town Tuesday Night Jam at Whitey’s Old Town Saloon in Minneapolis. Music starts at 10 p.m.
Bruce Woodman plays at Carmody in Duluth from 8 to 11 p.m., and often keeps going close to close.

Wednesday, July 15
As mentioned, Pearl & the Oysters hit the Turf Club in Saint Paul. The show starts at 8 p.m. Check out my preview of the show for Twin Cities Media here. I’ll be shooting and reviewing the show.
TWINE plays Bunkers every Wednesday from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
I have yet to make it to Berlin’s Cherry Pit Open Jam but I keep hearing good things about it from some of the best musicians in town. It runs from 10 p.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Thursday, July 16
Nicolas David plays at Ansari’s every Thursday in July with a special guest. This week it’s Dylan Nau. Music is 7 to 9 p.m.
TWINE frontman Will Effertz’ other weekly residency is at Gluek’s every Thursday from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m.
Jaybee and The Routine have their weekly Bunkers residency every Thursday also from 9:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., which is the standard set times any night of the week for Bunkers.
Uff-da continues their residency at the Loon Cafe in Saint Paul. The music starts at 7 p.m.
Friday, July 17
The first day of Minnesota Yacht Club includes The Lumineers, The Black Keys, Mt. Joy, The Fray, Dashboard Confessional, Shakey Graves, Marcy Playground, Night Moves, Prize Horse and Pat Kennedy at Harriet Island Regional Park, Saint Paul.
I’ll mention that Buffalo Galaxy and TWINE share a bill at The Potter’s Shed in Shell Lake, Wis., which is about equidistant from Duluth and Minneapolis.
Saturday, July 18
The second day of Minnesota Yacht Club has Matchbox Twenty, Lord Huron, Geese, The All-American Rejects, Lucy Dacus, Matt and Kim, Jensen McRae, Devon Gilfillian, Yam Haus and Porch Light.
Bayfront Reggae & World Music Festival at Duluth’s Bayfront Festival Park, Duluth kicks off at 2 p.m.
Cas Haley with Reed Grimm and Jon Wayne play 7th Street Entry in Minneapolis at 8 p.m.
Down in Winona, Buffalo Galaxy hits No Name Bar with an 8:30 p.m. show, with Fish on Hooks.
It’s a busy night of music in Winona, with Duluth’s Jacob Downs and The Mudpuppies hitting Prairie Island Campground.
Chase & Ovation returns to Bunkers, with the regular 9:30 p.m. start.
South of Duluth in Mahtowa, Cigarette Picnic and Entheos Enclave play Rugged Spruce Golf Club, which is operated by Jim Myhre and Colleen “Boss Mama” Myhre.
At Wussow’s in Duluth, there’s a reunion show, reuniting Sonja Martin and Charity Huot Benedict. Martin’s husband and Feeding Leroy bandmate Lee “Big Country” Martin is also on the bill, along with Salt and Pine. Music 7 to 10 p.m.
Sunday, July 19
The third and final day of Minnesota Yacht Club includes The Strokes, Cage The Elephant, Atmosphere, Passion Pit, Semisonic, Dope Lemon, Die Spitz, Couch, Heart to Gold and Common People.
The aforementioned Minnesota Original Music Fest is at Minnesota Square Park in Saint Peter. Performers include Martin Zellar, Brother Jon Band, The Quantum Mechanics, Saltydog, Bluedog, Given Names and Fruitform. Music starts at noon.
Last but not least are the two residencies I never forget to mention:
Shotgun Ragtime Band at Driftwood, Minneapolis. The music, with Phine and Friends, kicks off at 6:30 p.m.
And Dr. Mambo’s Combo at Bunkers. The Combo has held down this legendary residency since 1987!
