REVIEW: Dish Pit Violet's new single "Nobody's Better"

December 03, 2025 in blog, reviews, album reviews

Dish Pit Violet, a transgender artist from Saint Paul, released a catchy single “Nobody’s Better” last week, and it’s got both an important message and the funk.

Violet describes her project as queer indie pop/post funk, and she’s planning on dropping a full, self-titled LP on New Year’s Day.

You should check out the music video for this catchy tune that is saying something that shouldn’t need to be said in America in 2025 but most definitely does need to be said thanks to the backwards turns this country has made lately.

“I was sick of watching babies getting bombed and burned alive, I was sick of watching my trans rights be stripped away, I was sick of watching masked federal Nazis on the streets of our American cities,” she wrote about the song. “I literally could not withhold making this project as personal and political as possible. It seems that a lot of those in power have forgotten the golden rule and, coming from that same place of power, I realized I needed to completely disconnect from Imperialism because bystanders fuel the flames of Fascism.”

The song conveys this well at a time when emboldened bigots seem to want their bigotry “tolerated.”
