Live in MN: Marley Brothers, Telula, Mikel Wright and the Wrongs with Saltydog, a few highlights this week

September 02, 2025 in live events, blog

It might be a lighter week of live, psychedlic music in Minnesota, but that only brings the goods into greater focus.

We have a range of options this week beyond a pair of Bob Marley’s sons coming to town.

One sleeper show: Telula, a band that wound its way into my streaming algorithm via psychedelic rock playlists, is an intriguing project that blends funk and psych pop vocals.

They’re playing 7th Street Entry Sunday at 8 p.m., with a pared-down three-piece version of the band, T3lula, opening up with funky instrumentals.

I wouldn’t miss this show, which I will be hitting before heading over to Dr Mambo’s Combo for their dose of funk at Bunkers.

Read on for shows from TWINE, Boss Mama, Stephen and Damian Marley, Mark Joseph and Chris Castino from The Big Wu, Brotherhood of Birds, The Foxgloves, The Way Back Yard, LaPlant Road, Mikel Wright & The Wrongs, Saltydog, Greater Goods, People Brothers Band, Feed the Dog, Jillian Rae, Burbillies, Jon Sullivan Band, Ilika Ward, Maygen and the Birdwatchers, Joe Scarpellino and Friends, Feeding Leroy, Joanna, Shotgun Ragtime Band and Dr. Mambo’s Combo.

Up Nort’, Boss Mama plays its weekly Wednesday evening show at The Rugged Spruce Golf Club and Grill in Mahtowa at 6:30 p.m. That’s pert near Cloquet and Moose Lake, if yer wondering.
