Eau Claire, Wis. — Feed the Dog made much of their evening slot at the Saloon Stage at Blue Ox Music Festival on the opening night of the fest last Thursday.

They got highly exploratory on several improvisational jams, including on “Space Odyssey.”

But another major highlight of the set was a sit-in with banjo picker Andy Thorn of Leftover Salmon. He played on “Mooshoo’s ‘Munk,” a story about a cat getting it’s first chipmunk, the cat of fiddler Timmy Mac.

Kay Meyer, a friend, did capture video of the entire sit-in, which closed the set. Feed the Dog guitarist said he was still caught by surprise by Thorn’s presence, even though it was mentioned to the band that it could happen.
